Snake vs Heron Who wins?
We were in a hide in the Grangette Spring last year, watching a Grey Heron in the reeds heaving and pulling at something that looked like a stick.
It was hard at it and wouldn’t give up. We watched for a while and as nothing was happening, we moved to another hide. Suddenly I saw the Heron flying in with a long something in its beak.
Upon landing it was clear that our Heron had bagged itself a snake for dinner.
The snake was not happy and wiggled and tiggled, trying to get free. It wound itself around the beak of the Heron which cased a certain number of problems.
Eventually the Heron flew off with its prey to the far edge of the bay and over the next 20 minutes, proceeded to eat the snake whole. Yum!!!
